@dcaff330 I … @dcaff330 I remember that season. That was definitely a “Big Red Machine.” You guys had such an awesome team that year. And yes, I was more of a Jack Buck fan than his son Joe. Joe still has time to recover and learn a thing a two from his papa.
I totally agree. It … I totally agree. It is highly unlikely that CBS will ever get baseball back. MLB appears to be satisfied with its arrangements with FOX Sports, TBS, ESPN and of course its own MLB Network. (Not counting each team’s contracts that cover their individual markets.
Of those four, Greg … Of those four, Greg Gumbel would be the most likely candidate. He is the only one of those four currently with CBS. Dick Stockton works for FOX and for Turner Sports, Sean McDonough works for ESPN/ABC, and Jack Buck is dead now.
The ‘87 series was … The ‘87 series was on ABC though. (And their World Series theme wasn’t too bad either, though not quite so intense, but very spirited). This was the one for the ‘91Series with the Twins
You wouldn’t happen … You wouldn’t happen to have a tape of that game, starting with the theme and into, would you? I’ve got the game on tape, but my tape starts in the middle of the pre-game show–I’ve never gotten to see this theme and O’Brien’s into at the beginning of that game for the ages.
If CBS had baseball … If CBS had baseball now, odds are it’d be either Dick Enberg or Jim Nantz doing play-by-play. Or maybe Gus Johnson, he did call Detroit Tigers games in the late ’90s.
“Hello and Welcome … “Hello and Welcome to Game 7 of the 1991 World Series…it all comes down to this. A herculean Homerun hit by Kirby Puckett sent us right to where we are tonight…the deciding game. Hi everyone Pat O’Brien here from the Metrodome here in the Twin Cities, inviting you to sit back, relax and watch us crown a new Champion”
This was one of my first real memories of watching Sports on TV firsthand. It still gives goosebumps.
This is one of the … This is one of the songs that defined my childhood. Being a White Sox fan, it was a rare thing to have my team in the playoffs, and when they won the AL Western Division in 1993, we made sure to tape all of the ALCS games against Toronto. I watched those tapes over and over and over as a kid, and I will always remember this song!

Should CBS ever get baseball back (highly unlikely), they better have this theme. I should get this for my cell phone ringtone.
